Womens wrestling. It is something that makes me happy that I am a fan of wrestling in this day and age. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that womens wrestling is as big as it is right now. It all started at WrestleMania 32 when Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks absolutely stole the show when they fought for the new Womens Championship (which was the first sign of a great new era). Now fast forward to this day. September 21st, 2016 and we are 4 days away from another triple threat match for the Womens Championship between Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Bayley at the first RAW exclusive Pay-Per View Clash Of Champions. Now it was rumored that this match would main event the show but I do not think that is the case…yet. Regardless whether or not they are the main event or not, they WILL steal the show and here is why.
The Women Involved
We already know the history Charlotte, Sasha, and Bayley have as they reinvented womens wrestling down in NXT where Sasha and Bayley put on two of the greatest womens matches of all time. Now they are both on the main roster in the same match for the Womens Championship and it is just perfect. You have three of the most talented female wrestlers in recent memory and the mix of characters and attitudes will go so well and not to mention the chemistry between the three.is absolutely phenomenal. You can trust these three women with any move (except putting Charlotte on top of a turnbuckle. We won’t allow that again). But these women need time. They need to show that womens wrestling is for real and prove that womens wrestling is the best thing in wrestling today.
The Mix Of Attitudes
As I stated in the previous paragraph, the different characters and attitudes are going to blend so well together. You have Sasha Banks. The Boss. A woman who is the ultimate cocky babyface. She has it all down. The entrance, the mic work, the ring work, everything about Sasha Banks says boss EXCEPT that she gives into the fans too much. If you call yourself The Boss and you are arrogant and cocky, you need to be a heel. But more on that later. Next you have Bayley. The sweet, lovable, huggable Bayley who isn’t cocky or arrogant and gives all the respect and credit to her opponents. It kind of reminds me of the Jeff Hardy vs Cm Punk feud where Jeff was the reckless drug addict and CM Punk was the straightedge, no drugs, no alcohol douchebag (sorry Punk I MISS YOU). You have two completely characters and personalities and when you put two stars like that together, you get magic. And then you have the champion herself. Charlotte. What else can be said about her? She is the total heel package. She is cocky, arrogant, selfish, and just a straight up bitch. What? Somebody had to say it. Charlotte follows her father well in being a total dick to people. When you give Charlotte a microphone it is guaranteed fire. She is loud, rash, and tells it how it is. And on top of that she is fantastic in the ring (except for almost KILLING SASHA AHHHHHH) but that is besides the point. The point is all three women have completely different characters and attitudes that it just makes the match simply flawless.
This match isn’t pointless. This match is setting the pieces of the puzzle together for the next year. This match will lead to huge stories to tell for the rest of 2016 and on to 2017. First off this match is for the Womens championship. You can’t get any more important than that. Whoever walks out of COC the Womens champion is set to go on for a huge run and here is why. It makes sense for Charlotte or Bayley to walk out champion because it sets up the Sasha Banks heel turn (told you I’d get to it) to set up the long rivalry with Bayley. These women are going to tell a story in the ring and that’s what has them stealing the show. It will be emotional, stressful, and frustrating for all three women and when it comes down to the final stretch, that’s when the magic happens. I do believe Bayley will pin Sasha Banks (imagine the pop) and she will celebrate will Sasha. There will be tears, hugs, pyro, and then….the turn. I’ll just leave that there and let you think about it. But imagine the moment. The whole WWE fanbase will be standing still knowing that this match and that very moment has set up what will be one of the greatest rivalries of all time. And THAT is what will steal the show.
Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Bayley. The three top women in WWE. They don’t go to Clash Of Champions to wrestle. They go in for a fight. A fight for the championship. A fight for pride. A fight to be the best woman that WWE has to offer. This isn’t just another womens match. This is the beginning of the REAL Womens revolution. The beginning of something special. The beginning of a new era. The beginning… of women taking over.
